Before you put your name forward

  • Be a person first. Listen, stay patient and explain decisions kindly.
  • Be fair, even with friends. Give people the same care and hold yourself to the rules.
  • Keep private things private. Reports and staff conversations stay with the team.
  • You don’t have to know everything. Ask for another view when you’re unsure. Owning a mistake matters.
  • Be honest about your time. School, work and rest come first. Tell the team when you need a break.

New to moderation? That’s okay. Thoughtfulness and a willingness to learn count.
